BATTLE OF THE BANDS OFFICIAL RULES

Bands must consist of at least two members, one of which plays an instrument throughout the majority of the performance. Band must be unsigned and is open to all ages. Bands must be registered and pay a $25 entry fee by August 1, 2010.  $25 entry fees are non refundable.

Bands will be notified of their acceptance and designated time slots by August 11th 2010 for the Battle Of The Bands on September 4th 2010 at Sunset Park Fest.

On the day of the main performance on September 4th 2010, band members must be dressed in clothing free from obscenities, drugs, alcohol, sex, or any other subject matter not suitable for a family audience. Band name and lyrics of performance songs must not contain any obscenities. The entire performance must be violence-free and suitable for families. Drugs and alcohol (including tobacco) are not permitted in Sunset Park. If a band incites moshing or any other sort of violence in the crowd, the band will be disqualified.

There will be a required band/organizer meeting at 11a.m on August 28th at BOTA Studio, 9119 Trinity Dr. Lake In The Hills. Bands will meet the organizers in charge of the event who will go over last minute announcements and time slots. Bands unable to attend the meeting must contact BOTA Studio no later than Monday August 30th or will be disqualified for the event.

A panel of judges will score musicians using a point system. Criteria to be considered include: Stage Presentation, Sound Clarity, Band Synchronization, Time Management, Song Quality & Originality, Stage Management, Band Enthusiasm & Attitude, and Audience Response. Judges will award points in each category using a point system. If bands end up in a tie, the following individual category scores will decide the winner (in order): Stage Presentation, Song Quality & Originality, and Audience Response. All bands agree to have their name, voice, and/or likenesses used in any advertising or broadcasting material relating to this contest without any compensation or rights to royalties for such use.  P.A. system will be provided for the contest. BOTA Studio will provide all backline Guitar and Bass amps, 5-piece drum kit and keyboards. Band members must provide Guitars, Basses, Sticks, Cymbals, Bass Pedals and Snare that’s necessary for their performance. Band members are responsible for the security of their equipment and the event organizers cannot be held liable for any lost, damaged, or stolen equipment.

Fires, pyrotechnics, fog machines, etc. are not allowed.

BOTA Studio and Lake In The Hills Fest organizers reserve the right to make changes to the rules and regulations of the contest as well as the final word in any disputes that should arise concerning the contest. All band members must sign the registration form acknowledging they have read and understand the rules as outlined in this document At the August 28th meeting. All band members under the age of 18 are required to have a parent or guardian sign the document on their behalf as well. Failure to comply with any contest rules may result in bands being disqualified.
